Charles Slagen, Ph.D., Executive Director
Dr.
Charles Slagen has served as the Executive Director of the Center since 1990.
His passion is in doing marriage and family therapy, especially in
providing premarital counseling. He has taught marriage and family
therapy as an adjunct professor at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary,
serves as a crisis intervention counselor/consultant for
several organizations, and
also consults to churches and family owned businesses in areas that
include team building, conflict resolution, crisis intervention, and
succession planning. Prior to becoming a psychologist,
Chuck worked as an Electrical Engineer developing radar system signal
processors. He received his Ph.D. in Pastoral Psychology from
Boston University, a M.A.T.S. with a concentration in Counseling from
Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, and a B.S.E.E. from the University
of Michigan. Chuck is married and has two grown children.

David Chick, Ph.D.
Dr. David
Chick has been on staff at Hope Psychological Services since June,
2002. He earned his Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the University of
Southern Mississippi in 1991. David has extensive experience working in
both outpatient, and medical inpatient settings helping clients:
overcome depression and anxiety, resolving grief, managing stress,
expressing anger constructively, resolving trauma, and overcoming fear
and obstacles to emotional and spiritual growth. He has worked five
years as a staff member/consultant for a medical hospital rehabilitation
program helping patients and their caretakers deal with the
emotional/adjustment aspects of illness and injury. He also served as a
coordinator of a VA Medical Center substance abuse program, consultant
to a skilled nursing home facility, and adjunct professor (most recently
Middlesex Community College). His current outpatient focus is split
between individual therapy work (adolescents, adults, and geriatric) and
couples/marriage therapy. He is passionate about assisting others
fulfill their potential, not simply, overcome challenges. David is

Elly Fung,
LMFT
Elly
Fung joined the Hope staff in Sept 2011. Elly currently provides wrap
around service for families with children who have severe emotional and
behavioral needs. Prior to this work, She has worked as a protective
service advocate for elders who are neglected and abused and their
family and has experience engaging in individual, family and marriage
therapy at outpatient setting. She has also done home-based family
stabilization work for families with children and adolescents who are in
psychiatric crisis and psychiatric evaluation at emergency services.
Elly is passionate about helping people draw closer to God and grow in
Him through counseling. She earned her Master of Divinity and Master of
Arts in Counseling from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. Elly is a
Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and particularly enjoys working
with couples and families. She is bilingual in Cantonese and English.

Edna M. Lezotte, D. Min., LICSW
Dr.
Edna Lezotte is returning to Hope in 2009 after being away for
several years. She has extensive experience with victim/survivors of
clergy sexual abuse and women’s issues. Her work also includes couples
and families. She earned her D. Min., from Boston University School of
Theology with a concentration in Pastoral Psychology. She earned a
Masters in Theological Studies from Weston Jesuit School of Theology and
a Masters in Social Work from Boston University School of Social Work.
She has been an adjunct professor at several Boston Universities,
offered local and international seminars, and retreat experiences for
large organizations both religious and corporate. Dr. Lezotte offers
supervision, staff development and leadership to several community
health centers in the Massachusetts area. She is president of Community
Table, a non-profit soup kitchen, located in Lowell MA. Dr. Lezotte has

Clancey J. Paul, LICSW
Clancey
joined the Hope staff in November 2006. Clancey most recently provided
post-adoption support to families confronted with the challenge of
processing the impact of adoption throughout the developmental stages of
the individual and family. Prior to this work she engaged in individual
and family therapy in a residential treatment program for children and
adolescents. She has a passion for helping support families as a
foundational resource in the life of each family member. Her interests
and experience also includes working with children and adolescents as
they negotiate the challenges such as self-injurious behavior, peer
culture, grief and loss, trauma, attachment issues and depression.
Clancey earned a Masters in Social Work from the University of New
Hampshire in 2001 and a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from Gordon
College. Clancey is married and has two children.

Linda Ware, LICSW
Linda joined the Hope
staff as a part time therapist in 2005. After earning her Masters in
Social Work from Boston University in 2001, Linda has worked in
outpatient mental health in Lowell, MA and has enjoyed treating
children, adolescents and adults struggling with depression, anxiety,
trauma, relationship problems, teen pregnancy issues and post-abortion
healing. She has worked in the adoption field, conducting home studies
for prospective adoptive parents. Linda has a background in special
education, formerly teaching middle school English and tutoring students
with learning disabilities at Lexington Christian Academy. She served
for many years on the board of directors for Life Saver Ministries, a
nonprofit Christian ministry to teen mothers. Linda is married and has

Glenn Beernink
Glenn is retired from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary where
he was the
Vice-President for Fiscal Affairs.
Bill Bryce
Bill Bryce, a native of Massachusetts, and
has been involved in the Ministry of Christian Fundraising for 30 years,
first at Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary, and now at World Vision
for the past 22 years. He has served on the board of Hope
Psychological Services since 1994, currently as the Chairman.
Paul Hubley
A former employee of Xerox
Corporation, Paul graduated from Gordon-Conwell
Theological Seminary with a Master of Divinity degree and pastored
Chapel of the Cross, Southborough, MA, prior to his current position as
District Executive Minister of Converge (formerly the Northeast Baptist
Conference).
